Bretscher, Jacobs Take Titles At Ironman 70.3 Steelhead

Americans Daniel Bretscher and Jessica Jacobs took the victories at today’s Ironman 70.3 Steelhead in Benton Harbor, Mich.

Bretscher combined a 26:18 swim, a 2:08:27 bike and a 1:19:06 run to take the 3:57:17, the only finish time under the four-hour mark. Argentina’s Mario De Elias posted the fastest run split of the day at 1:16:27 to earn second. American Zach Ruble had a steady day across the three disciplines and finished third.

Jacobs overcame a slow swim with the fastest bike and run splits of the women’s field to earn the victory. Her 1:21:19 half-marathon sealed the deal for the 4:24:43 victory. American Lesley Smith finished second, with Mandy McLane making it an all-American podium by finishing in third.
