Three-time Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington is slowly revealing her 2010 racing schedule. Today, she announced that she will be returning to defend her 2009 title at the Quelle Challenge Roth Triathlon on July 18, 2010. Last year, Wellington’s win came with a new Ironman-distance world record of 8:31:59. Wellington has yet to announce where she will open her race season. She has been recovering from a bike accident she suffered at the beginning of the year. The only other triathlon Wellington has said she will race is the Ironman 70.3 Kansas, which is set to take place on June 6, 2010.

Triathlon superstar Chrissie Wellington will return to defend her title at the ninth running of the Quelle Challenge Roth, the world’s largest long-course triathlon, on July 18 in the German hamlet of Roth. The three-time Ironman world champion will headline a top-class field to be announced soon.

In her debut in Roth last year, the amazing Brit lowered the world’s best time for women over the distance (3.8km swim/180km bike/42.2km run) to an incredible 8:31:59. She shattered the record of 8:45:48 set just a year earlier, also on the Roth course, by Dutch star Yvonne van Vlerken.

In all, some 2,500 individual competitors and 550 teams from around the world will start the classic event. For more information, please visit the newly redesigned Quelle Challenge Roth website at Challenge-roth.com.
