Japan Triathlon postponed amid nuclear crisis.

The International Triathlon Union has postponed a world championship series race in Japan over health concerns as the country continues to grapple with a nuclear crisis caused by last month’s earthquake and tsunami.  

ITU President Marisol Casado said Tuesday the nuclear situation was still “too risky” to hold the May 14 triathlon in Yokohama, about 185 miles south of the crippled Fukushima nuclear reactor.

Millions of liters of radioactive water have leaked into the ocean since the natural disasters. The triathlon was to begin with a 1.5-kilometer swim in Yokohama Harbour.
