The Triathlon New Zealand Organization is publicly asking its athletes to use caution when using social media sites, such as Facebook. The announcement comes after on of the country’s athletes, Clarke Ellice, was reportedly suspended for speaking out against the national organization on Facebook.
Triathlon New Zealand high performance manager Greg Fraine believes athletes need to be more careful of how they’re using social networking sites.
Fraine says athletes need to be more aware of who is looking at what they post. He says Facebook is a great tool for promoting young up and coming athletes but it can also get them in trouble depending on what gets posted.
