Triathlon Continues To Grow At The Collegiate Level

According to USA Triathlon, this past year 2,500 collegiate level student-athletes lined up to race triathlon.
At the collegiate level, triathlon is another athletic option for students interested in participating in a sport. Unlike road cycling where criterium racing is part of a heavy diet of events nationwide, the sport is an Olympic event. Such is the interest that USA Triathlon (USAT) has talent identification personnel charge with selecting athletes to represent the U.S. at the international level.
USA Triathlon Collegiate Conferences
In the U.S. there are ten national collegiate conferences represented by the following :

♦ Mid-Atlantic (District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia)
♦ Mideast (Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio)
♦ Midwest (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missiouri, Wisconsin)
♦ Rocky Mountain (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming)
♦ Northeast (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont)
♦ Pacific Northwest (Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington)
♦ Southeast (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee)
♦ South Midwest (Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas
♦ West Coast (California and Nevada)
