Miguel Tellez is one of South Florida’s best triathletes. Sunday he showed mastery of a single endurance test with his first half-marathon victory in the Miami Beach 13.1.
Tellez, 39, of Aventura, said he was “shocked and surprised” after he took the lead in the final mile and finished in 1:17:15.
“I’m a triathlete,” said Tellez, an industrial engineer who recently began running half marathons and finished 14th at the ING Miami Half Marathon in January. “I’m not a runner.”
