Four-time Xterra world champion Conrad Stoltz of South Africa and Renata Bucher of Switzerland took the titles at today’s Xterra West Championship at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nev.
Stoltz’s victory came thanks to a blistering 1:09:09 30K bike split. American Josiah Middaugh’s 37:18 run split propelled him to second position. South Africa’s Dan Hugo rounded out the podium in third.
The women’s race saw plenty of drama as Bucher out sprinted reigning Xterra world champion Lesley Paterson for the victory. Both finished in 2:27:24, with the slight edge going to Bucher. The United States’ Emma Garrard finished third more than seven minutes later.
