Lance Armstrong will give his first interview after receiving a lifetime ban in 2012 to Oprah Winfrey.
“Oprah Winfrey will speak exclusively with Lance Armstrong in his first no-holds-barred interview. Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating, and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career,” read a press release from the Oprah Winfrey Network.
The interview will air on Winfrey’s “Next Chapter” program at 9:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, Jan. 17 on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network and will stream live at Oprah.com.
The UCI enforced a lifetime ban for the former world champion in October 2012 after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency published a 1,000-page dossier outlining a wide-reaching doping conspiracy at the U.S. Postal Service team.
The New York Times reported last Friday that Armstrong was considering confessing to using performance enhancing drugs and blood transfusions during his career.
The OWN network is a joint venture between Harpo, Inc. and Discovery Communications, the former sponsor of Armstrong’s team from 2005 to 2007.
