New Zealand triathlete Tony Dodds says he will double the winning prize money at the Contact Cup Spring Triathlon On Jan. 14 if someone can beat him to the finish line.
Here’s one way to win $4000 – beat Wanaka’s Tony Dodds, one of New Zealand’s most promising young high performance triathletes and the 2010 New Zealand sprint champion.
Dodds, 23, has come up with the ultimate challenge for elite athletes to beat him in Triathlon New Zealand’s Contact Cup Sprint Triathlon in Wanaka, New Zealand on Jan. 14.
Should that happen Dodds, will double the $2000 prize money to $4000. The money will come from his own pocket.
Short of issuing the man with some concrete running shoes, this mission could be tough, but not impossible.
Last January, Dodds was second in Wanaka’s Contact Cup race, finishing three seconds behind Wellington’s Martin van Barneveld.
Going by last year’s times, those who want the money will have to race the 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run in under 55 minutes.
Lake Wanaka Tourism (LWT) is supporting the “Dare to Challenge Dodsy on his home turf” campaign.
