Defending champion expresses disappointment about his “bad day” in St. George.

He admitted he had a miserable swim, and then on the bike things went from bad to worse.
Weiss’ back began to tighten up and his quads started to cramp up.
Eventually, Weiss threw in the towel on his attempt to claim another Ironman St. George title.
“I’m very disappointed,” Weiss said. “As a sportsman, you’re going to have off days. You can’t always have great days. Sometimes you have OK days, but there are also bad days. That happened to me today.
“You’re allowed to have a bad day and it makes you stronger and tougher. I call it a lesson learned.”
