Speaking during a farewell ceremony hosted on his behalf, Bhojak said: “I am in the final stages of training for the competition and it’s important to travel early so I can adjust to the weather and other conditions in Bolton.”

He added: “I believe during this period, I will have ample time to map out the entire triathlon route and prepare both mentally and physically.”

Bhojak, who represented Kenya in swimming at the Commonwealth and All African Games, is seeking to qualify for the 2011 World championships in Hawaii.

Says Bhojak, “I’m going to intensify my training between now and the time of the championship and I am looking forward to doing the country proud at the event.”
