Pro triathlete Heather Jackson’s mom, Diane, shows the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as she preps to run the Boston Marathon on Monday.
“We’re not talking speed here, but boy I’m persistent.”
Diane Jackson certainly is persistent, and the 56-year-old from Exeter, Mass. is taking to the roads from Hopkinton to Boston in the 115th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday.
This will be the sixth marathon for Jackson, whose daughter Heather is a professional triathlete making big waves in triathlon circles. She has also run a number of Half Ironmans (four), including the World Championships in Clearwater, Fla. last November.
She’s previously run the Vermont City in Burlington, Vt. a couple of times. She’s also run the Marine, Baltimore and Napa Valley marathons.
And, oh yeah, the 26.2 miles she ran when she completed Ironman Lack Placid this past summer.
“That was really painful, a real experience,” says Jackson.
