Emma Snowsill Says Emma Moffatt’s The One To Beat

Injured Olympic champion Emma Snowsill rates Emma Moffatt as the one to beat in Sunday’s Mooloolaba Triathlon World Cup event in Australia.

Olympic champ Emma Snowsill, who will miss the Mooloolaba Triathlon on Australia’s sunshine coast with an ankle injury, said Emma Moffat, her Olympic teammate, had shown her class with victory in the national women’s sprint championship in Geelong last month.

“If I was a betting woman I would say definitely (Moffatt was the favorite), but she’s got some tough competition,” Snowsill said on Friday.

With this event contributing qualifying points towards Olympic selection, the three day Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival has attracted strong international interest in the men’s and women’s elite events.

Czech Vendula Frintova, the 2010 women’s champion, is back to defend her title, along with Swede Lisa Norden, Switzerland’s Daniela Ryf and Chile’s Barbara Riveros-Diaz, who all claimed event wins in 2010.
