VeloSwap, the world’s largest bike expo, is returning to Denver this Saturday, November 2 to celebrate its 30th year of offering up some good ole’ fashioned fun with bikes. VeloSwap is owned and run by Pocket Outdoor Media, the parent company of Triathlete.
VeloSwap, this year sponsored by Saris, will once again be held at the National Western Complex, giving the 10,000-plus attendees plenty of room to scope out the 500-plus vendors who offer some of the lowest prices on bikes, gear, components, cycling books, antiques, shoes, and more. It’s a tri nerd’s dream!
Not only is VeloSwap the perfect place to find a rare bike part or gift for that cycling-fanatic in your life, but it’s an event you can feel good about attending, too. VeloSwap has donated roughly $14,000 to Bicycle Colorado, a non-profit whose primary goal is to make Colorado a welcoming place for cyclists, through membership drives and VeloSwap ticket sales.
Dave Trendler, Director of Marketing at Pocket Outdoor Media and VeloSwap, says it will be an exciting day: “VeloSwap brings together more cyclists than any other event in the U.S.,” notes Trendler. “VeloSwap is a great way to find cycling gear, but it’s also a celebration of riding bikes and an annual gathering of Colorado’s enthusiastic cycling community.”
In between sifting through bikes galore, attendees can check out the head-to-head Zwift racing—provided by Saris—at the main stage. No extra equipment is needed to join in on the Zwifting madness, and top performers can win prizes such as a Saris H3 Trainrider and TD1 Trainer Desk, a Zwift membership, VeloPress books, and subscriptions to VeloNews.
Although the doors open at 9 a.m., Trendler let Triathlete in on a secret—swing by in the afternoon for the best deals.
“By mid-afternoon, prices on gear tend to fall,” says Trendler of the VeloSwap trend. “Vendors become more willing to negotiate on price as the day goes on.”
After a full day of swapping, bartering, and buying the best gear the bike world has to offer, the show wraps up at 4 p.m.
