CEOs in North America have had the opportunity to test themselves in sport competitions since 2001, starting with the CEO Ironman Challenge in Lake Placid, and now including competitions in running, triathlon, driving, skiing, cycling, golf, and even beach volleyball. And, thanks to a new license deal signed with Sports Tours International (STI), European CEOs will now have the same opportunities.
“Our CEO Challenge events have become extremely popular in the United States and Canada,” stated Ted Kennedy, President of CEO Challenges. “CEOs from North America love the opportunity to get to know fellow CEOs that share their sports passion, compete in events designed just for them, and, frankly, enjoy experiences that ‘money cannot buy’.”
“We have offered successful CEO Triathlon Challenge events in Austria and France in the past, and always sensed that the successful business model from North America would also do very well in Europe,” Kennedy continued. “But, until now, we couldn’t find a company that we felt confident could host the type of first-class events and experiences that would meet our very high standards, and that CEOs would embrace. Luckily, we found just the right company in Sports Tours, and are very pleased to announce a new license deal for the official and exclusive rights to host CEO Challenge events in Europe!”
Sports Tours International is perhaps best-known as a VIP official tour operator of the Tour de France, the largest tour operator in the World to the Etape du Tour, and an International Travel Partner of the ING New York City Marathon. They look forward to utilizing the knowledge they have gained from staging world-class events to hosting unique CEO Challenge competitions in spectacular European locations.
“This is a tremendously exciting venture for Sports Tours International, partnering with such a dynamic organization as CEO Challenges. We are looking forward to developing the challenges within Europe and working together on other projects.” said Brendan Fox, Head of Operations for Sports Tours.
The CEO Challenges European calendar for 2010 is beginning to take shape, and will allow CEOs many incredible opportunities to compete at some of Europe’s greatest events – including the Etape du Tour and Tour de France, the Real Berlin Marathon, Quelle Challenge Roth triathlon, and golf and tennis events to be announced. The top CEOs from each event will receive an exclusive invitation to take part in that sport’s CEO Challenge World Championship.
