Scotland’s Fraser Cartmell and Bella Bayliss took the win at Sunday’s Ironman 70.3 UK event in Wimbleball, England. Both Cartmell and Bayliss overcame deficits in T2 to run to victories.

Cartmell, a member of the Trek/K-Swiss Triathlon team, found himself trailing last year’s winner, Philip Graves. He posted a 1:17:06 half marathon to take the lead and the victory in a total time of 4:17:03. Graves managed a 1:22:58 half marathon for second position at 4:20:27. Sweeden’s Jonas Djurback crossed more than four minutes later for the final podium spot.

Bayliss turned in a steady 2:52:35 bike leg on the tough course to head onto the run course nearly two minutes back of fellow Brit Emma-Kate Lidbury. Her 1:29:37 run time easily gave her the victory at 4:53:52. Australia’s Tamsin Lewis cruised into second at 4:55:42. Lidbury was the final female finisher to break the five-hour mark crossing in third at 4:56:26.
