Arthur Gilbert of Somerset, England doesn’t let his age stop him from racing triathlons.

A 90-year-old has become Britain’s oldest triathlete after breezing through a 250 meter swim, 10K bike ride and 2.5K run in one hour, 20 minutes and nine seconds.

Despite his age, Arthur Gilbert sticks to a rigorous training regime, going to the gym twice a week, cycling 25 miles every Sunday and swimming 50 lengths of his local pool every morning.

His training paid off when he crossed the finish line at the Burnham-on-Sea Triathlon in Somerset, England on Sunday.

Arthur said: “It went really well. I enjoyed every minute.”

The grandfather, a member of local running group Burnham Harriers, says his staying power is due to a healthy lifestyle – and giving blood.
