We chatted with Krista to learn more about the personality behind the beauty:

Triathlete.com: How long have you been competing in triathlons?

Krista is a Boulder, Colo. resident.

Krista: I have been competing in triathlons for about 10 years. Before getting into triathlon I ran track and cross country at the University of New Orleans.

Triathlete.com: What is your proudest accomplishment in the sport?

Krista: My proudest accomplishment as a triathlete was my breakthrough year in 2006. I qualified for Ironman Hawaii at Vineman 70.3 and raced Hawaii as my first Ironman in 11.5 hours. That same year I placed 10th overall at the Best of the US Amateur Triathlon competition and achieved a PR of 2:17 in the Olympic distance. I went on to qualify for Ironman Hawaii again in 2007 and 2008 at Eagleman 70.3 and the inaugural Ironman China.

Triathlete.com: What does it mean to you to move on as a finalist in the contest?

Krista: Triathlete magazine’s swimsuit contest is a fun way to celebrate the physical benefits you can achieve through triathlon training and an active lifestyle. My goal is to be a positive role model to other women. Being a finalist in this contest required voting from others and it was exciting to get so much support from friends, family and other athletes.

Triathlete.com: Do you have a background in modeling?

Krista: Not professionally, but I have been in sponsor photo shoots, Spinervals workout videos and professional video and pictures for my exercise physiology business.

Triathlete.com: What do you think you’ll spend your $100 from TYR on?

Krista: The carbon female tank in Black/Red is on my TYR wish list!

Triathlete.com: What do you like to do for fun outside of the sport?

Krista: Since I moved to Boulder last year I have learned how to downhill ski, skate ski and rock climb. I coach and train endurance athletes and develop women’s triathlon camps, which keep me very busy. When I am not working or working out I like spending time with friends and family, watching exciting movies and traveling to new places.
