7th Annual Meat Pie Triathlon Slated For September 27

The 7th Annual Meat Pie Tri will take place on the downtown riverbank in Natchitoches on Sunday, September 27. This year’s race, a production of Run Wild Event Management, LLC, will serve as the USAT South Midwest Region State Championship event. More than 400 triathletes are expected to compete. This is a sprint distances tri, including a 1/2 mile swim in Cane River Lake, a 20 mile bike and a 5K run.
A pre-race pasta party will be held on Saturday, September 26, at the Natchitoches Events Center, featuring three-time Ironman World Champion Peter Reid as guest speaker. “We are honored to host Peter and look forward to having him being a part of this storied Louisiana event.
“I’m very excited to travel to Louisiana to support Meat Pie as well as meet all the athletes participating in this years event” said Reid, “I’m looking forward to seeing a part of the United States that I have not been to and sharing my passion for the sport of Triathlon
with the community”.
The transition area will be staged near the Fleur de Lis stage on the downtown riverbank. The distances to be covered are a 1/2 mile (800 yards) swim in Cane River Lake, a 20 mile bike ride and a 5K run, crossing the finish line on Front Street. A post-race party begins at 9:30 a.m.
