Joe Skipper Wins 2019 Ironman Florida in Record Time

Panama City Beach played host to 2,500 athletes from around the world on Saturday as they swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles and ran 26.2 miles through Northwest Florida at the 2019 Ironman Florida triathlon. The 21st running of the race marked the event’s return to Panama City Beach after the effects of Hurricane Michael forced the relocation of the event to Haines City, Fla. in 2018. Joe Skipper of Great Britain took the title in a course-record time of 7:46:28, with Ben Hoffman (7:48:29) and Andrew Starykowicz (7:56:32) rounding out the podium. The race did not feature a women’s professional field, and age-group athlete Jacqui Giuliano of Cary, Illinois earned the fastest time for the women–crossing at 9:21:17.
