Editor’s Video Training Diary #1

This month, we’re tagging along with former pro and current senior/gear editor Chris Foster as he finishes up his preparation for the Santa Barbara Tri at the end of August. In this training video, Foster will walk viewers through his sessions and post the sets, his own numbers, and a list of the gear he uses in each workout below.

Workouts

Swim:

Warm-up
450 easy swim
6 x 75 as 50 drill, 25 swim

Main Set
3 x (4 x 75 on 1:10) descending each round
3 x (2 x 37 on :45) from treading water, 3x sighting/length

Cooldown
450 pull buoy, paddles

Bike:

Warm-up
15 minutes easy spin w/4x :15 surge to 8/10 effort

Main Set
3 x 10 minutes (80-85 RPM, 75-80 RPM, 70-75 RPM), 2min spin 95-100 RPM

Cooldown
15 minutes easy spin

Run:

Warm-up
10 minutes easy jog, stretch, 4x strides to 7/10

Main Set
10K at 9/10, near race effort

Cooldown
20 minutes easy
