Now in its sophomore season, the Super League Triathlon Series is bringing exciting (and spectator friendly) racing to the pro ranks. The first race of the season took place in Jersey, U.K. over the weekend and it provided the heart-pounding action it promises. The first day saw the pro fields take on the brutal triple mix format. Athletes compete in three stages: Swim, bike, run, then run, bike, swim, and finish up with bike, swim, run. France’s Cassandre Beaugrand and Vincent Luis were victorious on day one, putting them in front of the standings going into day two.
The second day featured the even more brutal enduro format; athletes complete swim, bike, and run three times in a row without a break. Luis was also the winner on day two, giving him the overall victory and the lead in the series. American Katie Zaferes was first across the finish line for the women. That, coupled with her second-place finish from day one, gave her the overall victory and lead in the series.
