The island of Bermuda is thrilled to watch its hometown hero, two-time ITU world champion Flora Duffy compete, and she has a bike to match that excitement. This hand-painted Specialized Tarmac is the creation of bike designer Ron Jones (@notenoughswedes), and will take Duffy through the beautiful 10-lap bike course on Saturday.

“The mother of pearl detailing is just crazy,” Duffy says of her new ride. “Anyone who has been to Bermuda knows the pastels reflect the colorful Bermuda houses. A special project that I’m excited to debut here in Bermuda.”

The Bermudan support for Duffy truly is amazing. You can’t walk by a single shop or restaurant without a “Go Flora” reference.

“It is really wonderful to be here,” Duffy said at the pre-race press conference. “I remember when this race was announced, I think it was the end of 2016 and that felt like so far off, but really it has just flown by. I can’t believe I am sitting here and the race is in two-days’ time and all the athletes are here. I have been checking out there social media and it is so cool to see, because I have always been bragging about Bermuda and how pretty it is and how cool the vibe is here, so for them to be here and to be experiencing and sharing about it on their social media platforms, from what I have heard most are enjoying being here. It is really cool, special and overwhelming all at the same time.”

Duffy and the rest of the professional women will compete on Saturday, April 28, at 4:06 p.m. local time (12:06 p.m. PST/3:06 p.m. EST). Follow the action online at Triathlonlive.tv and on Twitter @Triathlonlive.
