Australia's Sam Appleton and South Africa's Jeanni Seymour earned the victories at today's Ironman 70.3 Austin in Texas.

Australia’s Sam Appleton and South Africa’s Jeanni Seymour earned the victories at today’s Ironman 70.3 Austin in Texas.

Men’s Race
American Andrew Starykowicz led the men out of the water in 24:16, with Ben Collins (USA), Brian Fleishmann (USA), Paul Matthews (AUS), Appleton, Karl Shaw (GBR), Igor Amorelli (BRA) and James Hadley (GBR) following within a few seconds. Starykowicz started the bike ride out front, but he suffered a flat tire and spent the rest of the bike ride fighting his way back to the front. By the time bike turned to run Starykowicz was able to earn back the top spot, taking a 20-second advantage over Appleton onto the run course. Appleton posted a 1:14:24 half-marathon to take the 3:51:16 victory. Starykowicz finished a close second at 3:52:59. Canada’s Taylor Reid finished a distant third at 4:00:39.

Women’s Race
American Heather Lendway was first out of the water at 25:03, with France’s Camille Donat following three seconds later. Next onto the bike were the United States’ Erin Dolan (26:08) and Corrie Kristick (27:00) and then Seymour (27:02). It was a close race on the bike for the women with Lendway, Lauren Barnett (USA) and Syemour coming off of the bike out front within 9 seconds of each other. Seymour capped off her day with a field-best 1:21:03 half-marathon to take the win in 4:23:48. Barnett turned in a well-rounded effort to finish second at 4:26:43. Great Britain’s Corinne Abraham finished out the top three at 4:29:26.
