Ruedi Wild (SUI) was part of an all-Swiss top five for the men, while reigning Ironman 70.3 world champion Daniela Ryf (SUI) dominated the women’s race today at Ironman 70.3 Switzerland in Rapperswil-Jona.
Wild had a solid swim (23:56) and bike (2:09:47), but it was his dominant 1:14:32 half-marathon that propelled him to the 3:51:27 victory. Manuel Küng was second at 3:52:38, with Jan Van Berkel (SUI) claiming third.
Ryf was in charge all day, showing why she’ll be considered a top contender at both the 70.3 and Ironman World Championships this fall. She put together a 24:00 swim, a 2:17:17 bike and a 1:24:02 run to take the win in 4:08:43. Germany’s Sonja Tajsich finished second 18 minutes later at 4:26:49, with fellow German Kristin Möller rounding out the top three in 4:31:21.
