Enduro Bites

We liked the dark chocolate espresso bar (also available in fig and dark chocolate) for its flavor combo of organic espresso, shredded coconut, dark chocolate and figs. Each 400-calorie package contains four 1-ounce gluten-free bites—each piece has 100 calories, 18 grams of carbs, approximately 25 milligrams of caffeine and 2 grams of protein. We also appreciated the unique slender packaging—though it’s large, it slides nicely into a bike jersey pocket. $4.49 for 4-ounce bar, Endurobites.com

22 Days Energy Bar

Made with completely raw, organic ingredients, the vegan 22 Days bars come in a variety of flavors. Our favorite was Pineapple Chocolate Chip Wonder—chocolate chips, freeze-dried pineapple, almonds, cashews, pecans and quinoa combine for a unique, sweet-and-savory snack. (Other inventive flavors include Goji Maté Firecracker and Cherry Chocolate Bliss.) Each bar contains 110 calories, 26 grams of carbs and 6 grams of protein. $2.99 for 1.7-ounce bar, 22daysnutrition.com

Harmony Bar

A new start-up from pro cyclist (and Triathlete contributor) Jessica Cerra, Harmony Bars taste like moist, homemade cookies. We especially loved the white chocolate coconut blondie (also available in peanut butter chocolate chip) for its oatmeal cookie-like texture and flavor. Each bar is made with gluten-free, all-natural ingredients and contains less than 300 calories per bar, depending on flavor. $2.50-$2.75 for 2.2-ounce bar (available in March), Harmonybar.net
