Before I was a professional triathlete, I was... a lawyer working for the law firm, Taylor Wessing in London. I worked for Taylor Wessing for 6 years before making the jump to race pro.
Describe your introduction to triathlon: I was a swimmer at university (Chrissie and I were team mates at University of Birmingham). I got roped into a triathlon by some triathletes who swam with us. Using a borrowed bike with only two functioning gears it was a baptism by fire. There was a five-year gap before I had another go!
Who has influenced your triathlon career the most/and how? Lots of people have influenced my career in different ways. My first coach Richard Jones introduced me into structured training and goal setting in my early triathlon days when I raced as an age groper. My current coach, Matt Dixon has been instrumental in making me more professional, and bringing balance to my training.
Which event do you most look forward to each year and why? Hawaii. It's THE race everyone has heard about, and it has legendary status amongst triathletes. It is where you get to race the best in the world and it is in a beautiful place to boot.
What do you consider your biggest accomplishment as a triathlete? I think my Hawaii performances are probably my biggest accomplishments to date...but I'm not done yet! I'm also proud of my run course record at Ironman Lanzarote as it proved to myself that I can run!
Training partners? Oh I have some great training partners who keep the sport fun. Because I travel around a lot I've had the pleasure of training with a lot of different people in the past couple of years: too many to mention. In London there's a small group of guys and girls that I love catching up with when I'm in town. My Abu Dhabi team mates are also a lot of fun...our team camps have provided me with a lot of stories for years to come.
