Before I was a professional triathlete, I was …. Competitive swimmer, student.
Describe your introduction to triathlon: First race was in 2003 at the Skylands Triathlon. I had a good swim, but crashed twice on the bike. The 5k run was the longest 30 minutes of my life. I suffered through the entire run, but immediately after the race I was hooked!
Who has influenced your triathlon career the most/and how? My parents. Without their support, I would not be able to race. It takes time to develop in this sport and they have the belief that I can make it.
Which event do you most look forward to each year and why? Columbia Triathlon. It was my first taste of competitive triathlon and the course is extremely challenging. It's a hard race and you need to be a strong athlete to win.
What do you consider your biggest accomplishment as a triathlete? Winning the TX3 Triathlon in Houston. It was a small field, but very competitive and I finally put together a complete race. Now I need to do it on the big stage!
Training partners: None. Lone ranger.
