Before I was a professional triathlete, I was... an engineer, and I even did it while I was racing with the pros.
Describe your introduction to triathlon: I did it on a bet. I came out of the water third, got off the bike second and finished third. Pretty good start!
Who has influenced your triathlon career the most/and how? My first coach Chris Marks really put me on the right track in the sport. He taught me not only how to train, but how not to get injured. I still carry those lessons today. Now if I could just avoid vehicles, course personnel and submerged hazards I would hardly lose a race.
Which event do you most look forward to each year and why? Gosh, it used to be St Anthony's because the history and it is a spring classic, but after repeated bad luck and freak accidents...I most look forward to Chicago. It is where "The World Comes To Race" and my mates (as Bennett says) and family come out in groves to cheer.
What do you consider your biggest accomplishment as a triathlete? It is still to come.
Swimming - Patriot Aquatic Club
Biking - Orbea with a PowerTap
Running - Charlie Kern, Shawn Luc
