Before I was a professional triathlete, I was ... graduating in mathematics.
Describe your introduction to triathlon: I raced mountainbike races for one season and wanted to stay fit in the winter, so I went to a local pool. I joined a triathlon swim training squad and got hooked.
Who has influenced your triathlon career the most/and how? My wife supported me from the very beginning. She always believed in me and was very encouraging.
Which event do you most look forward to each year and why? My family and I go every year after Christmas to Switzerland for cross country skiing.
What do you consider your biggest accomplishment as a triathlete? As I
started triathlon as a non-runner I was really satisfied to beat Simon Lessing's run course record at Ironman 70.3 Cancun.
Training partners: Sebastian Kienle, Rachel Joyce, Jan van Berkel, Svenja Bazlen
