I hear ya. Rest weeks were THE worst for me. All that spare energy once the muscles had recovered. ugh!

Cool on getting the extra swim ... always nice to get in more than you planned or expected. As far as peas go ... My wife will never, ever eat peas (long story), but I like the idea of manipulating chili and making it more healthy.

Mmmmmm ... chocolate covered macadamias. I'm sure that must be a health-food

And here I thought the "see you in March" was a reference to March Madness which starts in just a few eeeks. Good luck with all you have to do.

Glad you took some downtime Julie! Sounds like you needed it. And bdays are highly over-rated once you don't get toys!

MONDAY: Yoga
I had a pretty normal day, and it was great! I was going to run after yoga, but when it ended I was so sleepy and so hungry that I decided to skip it. (It might be best to ease back into training anyway.) My husband and I went out for lunch, which took care of the hungry, but I was still so sleepy that I didn't think I would make it through the rest of the day without a nap. So I napped. And, well, long story short, I made it through the rest of the day.
The only progress I've made on my goals so far in March is that 19 miles of biking the other day. So sad! On the other hand, I also track my income (how much money I've made for the year vs. how much we need for our annual budget) and I made about 25 percent of my goal annual income in about five weeks! I think I need to make a little online pie chart for that one, too. :)

FRIDAY: Rest
SATURDAY: Rest
SUNDAY: Rest
Worst weekend ever, spent the entire time doing the boring, difficult, overwhelming, life-sucking job of compiling an index for a 900-page book. M.H. was helping me with it and insisted we get up at 5 this morning to make the deadline (turns out he was right). The worst thing is all that excess energy has vanished, and now I'm exhausted AND haven't worked out for the better part of a week.
BUT. Tomorrow should be a lot better, and I'm going to hit the gym for sure! And sleep. And eat. And breathe.
I'm pretty sure the purpose of weeks like this is to make normal weeks seem awesome and easy.

WEDNESDAY: Rest
THURSDAY: Bike 19 miles
I have never had so much pent-up energy in my life. I think I could have ridden five times what I did and still been fine. Or swum 5 miles afterward. Or run around and around the building screaming! (Sitting = driving me crazy!!)
On the other hand, I'm going to seriously rethink my tapers from now on. Apparently a week of almost complete rest leaves me bubbling over with vitality and energy.

MONDAY: Yoga
TUESDAY: Rest
I'm getting reeeeeeeally tired of sitting here and not getting to the gym. I can't tell if this awful panicky feeling is anxiety from the looming deadlines or just pent-up energy from sitting still for 17 hours a day. (Except for the frantic typing, or course!!)
I was a real mess yesterday morning and decided I'd see if yoga could straighten out my head. Did it ever! I had my most productive day yet and felt great. Smartest thing I've done all month.
On the plus side, this should all be over by next Sunday.
P.S. My sister had a healthy baby boy today, and I'm now a seven-time aunt!

The year is now 16.2% over. Here's how I'm doing on my 2010 goals:
Swimming: 15,200/150,000 yards (10.13%)
Biking: 249/2,010 miles (12.39%)
Running: 63/600 miles (10.5%)
