Triathletes get three opportunities to group-ride three famous Euro tri cycling courses and win prizes.
Bkool, the Spanish-based virtual cycling platform and indoor trainer-maker, announced a new program that gives remote triathletes a chance to ride sections of three famous European tri courses: Ironman 70.3 European Championships in Elsinore, Denmark, Triatlon de Valencia in Spain, and the Alpe d’Huez tri in France.
While virtual versions of tri courses are nothing new, Bkool is also introducing three group events over the course of three weeks in the lead up to each of the above races. Participants will get an opportunity to ride together on the bike courses and will also get a shot at free race entries and prizes. Though all courses are available at any time in 3D or real-video, the first online event will be held on April 12 on the virtual IM 70. European Championships course. (The actual real-life race takes place on June 17.) Those who complete one of the six organized challenge sessions held at various times throughout the day will be eligible to win two entry spots to the Toledo Triathlon held in Spain on May 6.
Prizes from Bkool will also be awarded to those who complete the virtual routes for the Triatlon de Valencia on April 19 and Alpe d’Huez tri on April 26. The former event takes place in real-life on May 12; the latter on Aug. 2. Though there is no extra fee to participate in the events, entrants must have Bkool premium memberships ($10USD/mo.) to join group rides.
Jorge Serrano, marketing director for Bkool says, “The Bkool TRI campaign is a great way for new triathletes to prepare for their first event, as well as a breath of fresh air for experienced triathletes who spend countless hours sitting on a turbo trainer in a mind-numbing workout.”
