Suunto Spartan Trainer Wrist HR

The Draw: A Great Tri Watch that Doesn’t Break the Bank

Most multisport watches tend to be higher-priced, with new models usually starting at a minimum of $399, even $499 these days. But this Suunto starts o at a very reasonable $280 and even includes a built-in optical HR sensor. It also boasts the exact same software as Suunto’s higher-end Spartan series (the Ultra and Sport), just in a smaller and lighter package. The Spartan Trainer can still connect to Bluetooth Smart sensors like cycling power meters, external heart- rate straps, and even Stryd’s running power meter. It’ll also track all three sports with solid GPS accuracy. The only downside? No third- party app platform on Suunto’s Spartan series watches—though it’s hardly a deal-breaker.
