In three words: Blind, cancer, adventure
Cancer took my site, blindness gave me vision and adventure/triathlon lets me live! After losing my sight at age six to a rare form of eye cancer, I pursued a life of adventure. I was a competitive rock climber, downhill skier and climbed mountains around the world–including mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. After graduating from college though I struggled finding what it was I was supposed to do. I could not find full-time employment and stress of life quickly piled up on me. That was, until I found running and eventually triathlon. In 2015, I completed five triathlons including Augusta 70.3. Then in 2016 I raced in five more triathlons including Ironman Boulder 140.6. I want to help grow the sport of triathlon, especially in the blind and visually impaired community. With this goal in mind I am pursuing Ironman Arizona as my “A” race in 2017 where I hopefully will significantly drop my finishing time. Help me accomplish this goal!
